Parisa Jahan is an experienced mental health professional with a diverse background in counseling and medical practice. Holding a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology( In Canada) and a Doctor of Medicine degree(In Iran), Parisa brings a wealth of experience to her practice, combining over two decades of professional expertise across different cultural contexts.
Immigrating to Canada in 2016, Parisa transitioned from a distinguished career as a family physician in Iran—where she mainly worked with patients suffering from mental health issues and provided care to a diverse patient population—to a new chapter in counseling. Her work in North America includes pivotal roles as a sexual assault counselor at the Salal Sexual Violence Support Center and as a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. At Salal, she provided trauma-informed care to individuals from various demographics, including marginalized communities and those experiencing concurrent disorders.
Parisa’s expertise spans Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). She employs a trauma-informed and person-centered approach in her practice, focusing on empowering her clients to understand and harness their inner strengths and capabilities. Her holistic approach integrates insights from Somatic Therapy and Psychoanalysis, enabling her to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each client’s needs.
Her professional journey is further complemented by her certification in Sexual Medicine from the European Committee of Sexual Medicine, enhancing her ability to address sexual functioning issues within therapeutic contexts. As a bilingual counselor (English-Farsi), she effectively communicates with a diverse client base, ensuring inclusive and empathetic care.
As a Registered Clinical Counselor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), Parisa is dedicated to delivering compassionate, culturally sensitive therapy. She is committed to continuous education to better serve her clients and enhance her therapeutic skills.
Parisa lives in North Vancouver with her two beautiful daughters and two amazing cats. She enjoys reading, and watching movies and has recently embarked on writing short stories. In her leisure time, she cherishes moments spent with family and friends and has a passion for exploring local thrift stores to find unique cat sculptures for her growing collection.
Parisa is also keenly interested in educating the community by holding support groups and workshops for women and specific groups, such as parents of autistic children. Her dedication to empowering individuals and fostering community connections is a central aspect of her professional and personal life.
