Sahar is a passionate and dedicated medical professional who believes in holistic health care with focus on mental health. She graduated as a General Practitioner from IUMS (Iran University of Medical Sciences) in 2006 and has a versatile work experience in medical field. She has over 8-year independent work experience as a family physician and emergency physician in different health settings in Iran including primary and tertiary hospitals, out-patient clinics, and community health services in rural and urban areas.
Sahar’s first interests in mental health sparked during her core internship rotations in one of the major psychiatric hospitals (Navvab Psychiatric Hospital) in Tehran, Iran.
Later on, she expanded her knowledge and skills in diagnosis, treatment, and management of mental issues as a clinician and supported many patients and their families to handle the mental challenges of daily life. As a family physician, she visited mentally challenged patients, evaluated them, treated and followed up their progress and ensured their adherence to treatments. She also encountered many patients during mental crises, such as panic attacks, PTSD, and suicide attempts in the emergency department. During the Covid pandemic, she was a frontline doctor in three different hospitals in Iran and noticed how the mental crisis exceeded during this period.
She describes herself as an explorer who enjoys trying new things, and this strong instinct brought her to Canada. She has successfully passed Canadian Medical Licensure Exams and has been a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada since 2017. She has also worked in different health settings in Canada and worked collaboratively with other physicians as a clinical trainee in family medicine practice and rheumatology specialty practice. She also worked online for different health organizations such as 911, British, American, and Canadian hospitals and clinics, helping Persian and Afghan-speaking patients with limited English knowledge.
Sahar is a dedicated and compassionate medical professional and has joined Elu mind Mental Health center to utilize her clinical and consulting expertise while expanding her knowledge with latest innovations in mental field.
Outside of workplace, she has an eclectic taste when it comes to hobbies and personal interests. She is keen in politics, history and art. During her spare time, she enjoys cooking, dancing, listening to music and watching films. She also likes hiking, and biking with her husband.
