Dr. Heikal was born in Mansoura, Egypt and is a medical graduate of Benha School of Medicine, Benha University. After obtaining his medical degree at Benha University, he completed his postgraduate training in general internal medicine at Mansoura University. He is a Licentiate of Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) and his name has been entered in the Canadian Medical Register.
Dr. Heikal has over thirty years’ experience in general internal medicine, with special interest in cardiology, gastroenterology, musculoskeletal, geriatric and psychiatry. In addition to his medical practice, he has been the Deputy General Manager and ER Medical director at district General Hospital. Dr. Heikal has professional licence to practice medicine in 4 countries: Libya, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Egypt.
Before working in Riyad, Saudi Arabia from 1999–2000, he practised as internist at Al-Thawra Hospital, Al-Bayda, Libya, from 1994 to 1998. In early 2000s, Dr. Heikal decided to give up his passion of travel to take care of his mother. He looked after her for many years until she passed away in 2006. After the death of his mother, Dr. Heikal worked for several years as Family Physician in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Once he landed in Canada, he shadowed Dr. Kozanitis, Family Physician, at CDK Family Clinic, Kingston, Ontario, for 6 months. During working with Dr. Kozanitis, he has encountered enormous psychiatric cases, and gained a great Canadian medical experience and acquainted Canadian culture.
He studied Health Care Administration at Saint Lawrence College, Kingston, Ontario
Dr. Heikal is always saying that he does not do anything different, but he tries to treat all patients with integrity, understanding, compassion and honesty.
He enjoys travel, reading and adore baking but he loves more spending time with his family.
