What’s OCD?

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a mental disorder characterized by recurrent, unwanted thoughts, ideas, or sensations (obsessions) that drive individuals to engage in repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) in response to their obsessions. Common examples of obsessions include concerns about contamination, harm, or losing control, while common examples of compulsions include excessive cleaning, counting, or checking. These symptoms cause significant distress and impairment in social, occupational, or other areas of functioning. Treatment for OCD typically includes medication (such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which focuses on changing the individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviors related to their obsessions and compulsions.

How we can help?

Elumind offers complementary treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder in addition to conventional OCD therapies. The following non-invasive outpatient protocols assist people cope and alter disruptive and problematic thoughts, actions, and emotions. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one such protocol. Neurofeedback aids in altering the neural connections in the brain and lowering emotional reactivity. Depending on the protocol, neurofeedback helps to control emotions and produce healthier brain waves, making it much easier to control or lessen symptoms. A safe, non-invasive neuromodulation technique called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) modifies the electrical activity in the targeted region of the brain. The overactive orbitofrontal cortex can be suppressed or blunted by TMS treatments, and the main symptoms are virtually completely cured.
