Maria is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors, taking clients either for in person sessions or online through zoom. She is trained in utilizing a number of different child and family focused therapeutic modalities including expressive play/art therapy, child-parent relationship therapy, family of origin work, cognitive behaviour therapy, and parent, child and teen attachment theory.
Maria has a strong background in mental health and extensive experience and training providing therapeutic support to children ages 6-11, youth ages 12 – 18 and families with children 0-5 years old.
Maria is also a trained Positive Discipline Parent Educator and Circle of Security facilitator. These are parent support groups that invite people to come together to explore different parenting strategies that help improve cooperation, communication and parent/child relationships.
Maria specializes in working with children and youth with anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, ADHD, challenges with emotion regulation and trauma related symptoms. She values working closely with parents offering parenting support and exploring strategies to improve parent-child relationship and attachment , behaviors in day to day routines and communication in the home.
