Meet Dr. Farhana Shawon, an extraordinary physician whose journey in healthcare spans continents and decades. After graduating from a distinguished medical school in 2009, she embarked on her career in Bangladesh, specializing in Family Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Shawon honed her skills in a myriad of healthcare settings, ranging from rural centers to university hospitals, proficiently managing patients across all age groups.
In 2018, driven by ambition and tenacity, Dr. Shawon relocated to Canada. She persevered through rigorous exams and secured her Licentiate from the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC). While Dr. Shawon’s skill set is vast, her extraordinary expertise and dedication to mental health set her apart. She has managed many patients facing mental health challenges as a licensed clinical observer in numerous community family practice offices. This role demanded a deep understanding of the human psyche, robust counseling skills, and unwavering commitment to her patient’s well-being. Amid the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Shawon demonstrated her strong commitment to public health. She volunteered in vaccine clinics, community outreach programs, and hospital outpatient settings, consistently placing community needs at the forefront.Dr. Shawon continues to expand her knowledge base, undertaking a research project in the Department of Family Practice at UBC. Her constant quest for learning and improvement exemplifies her dedication to the ever-evolving world of medicine.
Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Shawon enjoys reading, appreciating music, and exploring nature with her family and friends.
